WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!

This site has all the info you need to come celebrate with us.

OUR STORY

He made it past the 3rd date

By Judy

October 2021: I notice that we have a newcomer at our Tuesday Village Church small group. He's looking super sporty with a baseball cap, basketball shorts, and a gym tee. He keeps his head down most of the time so I can barely see his eyes. I say bye to him as I'm leaving and he doesn't look up. Awkward!

November 2021: We hang out a couple times in our friend groups -- trip to DC, potlucks, climbing. One day, we're walking around Patterson Park. He suddenly tells me he's interested. I think I'll give him a chance. My rule is up to 3 dates to decide whether I see a future.

We go on our first date in DC. We go ice skating with a view of the city, pet cats at a cute cat cafe, and see the Wizards win the basketball game. No red flags... that's rare for me.

December 2021: Okay, I think I want to go on a 4th date. We start dating.

April 2023: We're engaged!

The Proposal

By Andrew

In February 2022, Judy and I went on our first trip to Chicago together. Judy took me to see the skyline at Shedd Aquarium. As soon as I saw it, I knew this was where I wanted to propose to her.

Fast forward to 2023!

When Judy told me that she was going to Chicago during her spring break, I knew this was when I wanted to propose to her. Throughout our relationship, Judy and I have had the habit of surprising each other with dates, cards, gifts, cooked meals, etc. So I knew I had to surprise her with the biggest question of my life! Judy’s pretty big brain, so I knew it was going to be hard making it a surprise. With the help of her sister and some buds, I was able to get all the preparations for the proposal ready.

The days leading up to the proposal were so stressful because of Chicago’s weather being so unpredictable. I was constantly staring at the weather app watching it alternate between cloudy skies and showers. On top of that, I had written a whole speech about how I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Judy. But all my friends know that your boy is not the smoothest talker.

Anyways, time flew by and it was the day of the proposal April 3, 2023. Of course, I woke up at 4 AM because of the nerves and I had to send my good morning text to Judy as if I was heading to work due to the time difference. Then, Aaron and I got to Shedd Aquarium hours earlier while Sophy was taking Judy out to lunch beforehand. During that waiting period, I experienced several nervous pees, sweaty hands, and my heart racing. Finally, the Uber dropped off Sophy and Judy to Shedd Aquarium at 12:30 PM.

As soon as she was in front of me, I gave 20% of my speech in awko taco fashion. Thank the good Lord for her patience for me to spit something out. Then, I got on one knee, asked her to marry me, and got a yes and amen from the girl of my dreams. Thank the good Lord again for Judy agreeing to spend the rest of her life with this boy :D

Big thank you to Aaron for the photos!
